On April 4th, 2024, our team had the privilege of hosting Dr. Brian Alvarez, an Intensive Care Specialist and Organ Donor Coordinator from the University of Barcelona. Dr. Alvarez’s visit was an enlightening experience that enriched our Care Team’s understanding of organ donation.
During his time with us, Dr. Alvarez shared his expertise, focusing on identifying potential donors and effectively communicating with families navigating the complex decision of organ donation after brain death. His insights provided us with practical knowledge and best practices that will improve our approach to organ donation.
Notably, Dr. Alvarez personally toured critical departments like our Emergency Room and Critical Care Unit, emphasizing the importance these areas play in the early identification and intervention of potential brain-dead donors.
