Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy
How is it done?
Radiation Therapy usually takes from a week to eight weeks, depending on the goal, either curative or palliative. It is given daily from Monday to Friday lasting only for a few minutes, based on the prescribed dose and number of treatment fields.
How does it work?
 Radiation Therapy works by damaging the genetic material within cancer cells and limiting their ability to successfully reproduce. Your Radiation Oncologist will develop a plan to deliver the radiation to the tumor area, shielding as much surrounding normal tissue as possible.
Who can avail?
It has clinical applications for patients diagnosed with malignant tumors and occasionally benign diseases.
Brain / spinal cord tumors, Head and neck tumors, Lung cancer, Breast cancer, Cervix/ Endometrial / Ovarian, Vulvar cancer, Rectal cancer, Lymphoma, and soft tissue tumors to name some diseases.

Procedure timeline:
Treatment is done daily from Monday to Friday
Daily treatment set-up lasts from 5 to 15 minutes but actual treatment exposure is around 3 minutes or so.
The total treatment period varies from a week to eight weeks. Some treatments are a short course (5-10 days) but most last an average of 5 weeks
